Attending Camp Vidal was a wonderful opportunity, to get away with a group of men from all different back grounds, interests and walks of life. I realized that no matter how different we are, we have so much in common. Similar problems, goals, desires. We all have different ways in dealing with these issues, but that is what makes a weekend like this so wonderful and valuable.
We attended a few lectures which were very well presented, and in such a way that I was encouraged and inspired to go and make changes in my life which have benefited my family and I.
For me the theme that ran through the weekend was that, each of us have different talents and abilities and that in a given situation each of us may approach it differently. We mustn’t be afraid if our approach doesn’t make sense to others, may even seem foolish and irresponsible, because God has prepared and equipped each of us differently. The important thing is to keep close to God and continually seek His council by spending time with Him.
Mike shared a story about a relative of his who lost the use of his arm in a motor-bike accident. After taking a while to come to terms with his situation he decided to dump the slip-on shoes and pull-over shirts he had been given, and get lace-up shoes and button-up shirts, which he eventually mastered. This attitude of not taking the easy road, meant that today he runs a multi million rand company. Our attitude determines our altitude.
